Agricultural Opportunities with Iran’s Accession to the Eurasian Economic Union

“Strengthening Iran's prominent role in the North-South International Transport Corridor is one of the benefits of Iran's membership in the union,” said the Dir. Gen. of the Export Development Office of the Ministry of Agricultural said.
He reminded that the agreement has three separate sections including body, list of industrial products, list of agricultural goods and it will be in effect from October 27 this year.
He pointed out that Iran's total exports to Eurasia in the agricultural sector in 2018 amounted to $ 315.3 million weighing 405.01 tons. He added that Iran’s total imports in agricultural sector in 2018 from Eurasian states is worth $ 776.37 million weighing 21214.79 tones.
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is an economic union of states located in central and northern Asia and Eastern Europe. The Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union was signed on 29 May 2014 by the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, and came into force on 1 January 2015.
