On the opening day of the exhibition on presenting investment packages and export capabilities of Iran's free and special economic zones in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia, the Minister of Regional Management and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia hosted Hojatollah Abdolmaleki, advisor to the president and secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones of Iran, along with the managing directors of Aras, Maku and Chabahar free zones and they discussed the ways to shore up trade and transit exchanges between the two countries.

In this meeting, which was held with the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, Hojatullah Abdulmaleki, adviser to the president and secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones of Iran, pointed to the understanding between the presidents of the two countries to increase trade and transit exchanges, announcing Iran’s free zones are ready to put specific solution into practice to realize this importance.

Also referring to the capacity of the North-South Corridor, Mr. Abdolmaleki announced the readiness of the Chabahar and Aras Free Zones as the initial and intermediate bases of this corridor and clarified: that the Islamic Republic of Iran with a combined transport mechanism (sea, road, and rail) using the capacity of free trade and industrial zones can strengthen and improve the cargo transportation route from Chabahar to Aras and from Aras to Armenia.

The Minister of Infrastructure of Armenia talked about the issues and solutions presented in trade and transit matters; strategic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran have always been important for Armenia and we will do all our efforts to strengthen these exchanges.

In the end, it was decided that a committee of experts from both countries would follow up on the issues raised until the results were achieved.
