Proposal to Build Industrial Town and Common Border Market Between Aras & Armenia
According to the public relations and international affairs of the Aras Free Zone Organization, the Governor of East Azerbaijan in a meeting with the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, referred to the approach of the 13th government to comprehensively expand relations with neighbors and announced the full readiness of the state administration and the private sector of the province to develop cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of economics and business.
Abedin Khoram explained some of the industrial and production capacities of the province in fields such as petrochemicals, mines, agriculture, food industries, and construction materials, and said: East Azerbaijan has 57 districts and industrial towns, 6 specialized towns, and foreign investment towns and Ars Free Zone. With an area of 51 thousand hectares, it is ready to attract investment.
Referring to the suitable communication and industrial infrastructures in Aras Free Zone, he suggested that a common border market and industrial town be established permanently on the border of the two countries.
Khoram stated that: Aras Free Zone is the access route for Armenian producers to the Iranian market and the north-south axis. On the other hand, this country can also be the access route for Iran to the Eurasian Economic Union and Eastern European countries.
The governor of East Azerbaijan emphasized the settlement of customs and transportation issues on the border of Iran and Armenia. "We hope that with the positive attitude of the government officials and the profound will of the private sector of the two countries, we will be able to witness the positive effects of this trip in the field", he said.
