Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and Armenia to activate the bilateral railway lines and the North-South corridor, it remains to be seen whether the Iranian train will be connected to Moscow via Nakhchivan?
Last week, a railway agreement was signed between Iran and Armenia so that the two sides could take the necessary steps to activate the railway route through Nakhchivan. Of course, Nakhchivan will play a role not only as a railway destination but also as a bridge between Iran and Russia connecting the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea.
Another feature of rail communication between Iran, Armenia and Moscow is that we can be more active and better in the field of rail transport, because for example, a country like India ships all its goods and cargo to Russia by sea, but if this railway is activated there will be will be a good deal of time and money saving for the Indians and they will certainly welcome such an issue.
As the memorandum signed between Iran and Armenia, the Russian authorities welcome the plan and some preparations have been made for its implementation. But, it remains to be seen whether the railway connection between Iran and Armenia and Russia will materialize or something else will emerge.
