According to Public Relations & Intl. Affairs of AFZ Org., Mohammad Javad Zarif on a trip to the region visited the Iran-Nakhchivan border after he met with the Nakhchivan’s officials.
During these visits, which were accompanied by the CEO of Aras Free Zone Org., the Provincial Governor of East Azerbaijan, and the officials of this province, he was informed of the status of cross-border transactions of the two countries.
Pointing to the negotiations he had with the authorities of the region, he stated that unblocking the connecting routes between the neighboring countries, once occurred due to the Karabakh crisis, would be to the benefit of all involving nations.
“The first connecting line that could be opened would be the Jolfa-Nakhchivan-Armenia line. It could bring about prosperity to the Jolfa region and Aras Free Zone once again.” Mr. Zarif said.
He also visited the railway station, customs department, and Border Bridge between Iran-Azerbaijan in Jolfa on the Nakhchivan side.
